The National Grazing Reserves Agency Bill has been passed by the
senate for
the first reading. The
bill which is set to establish grazing
reserves for cattle across the country was
sponsored by a Senator
from Kano Central, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso. According to the Cable, it was read for the first time at the Senate in the early hours of Wednesday, 22nd of June. This signals
that the fruition of this bill into law is
close despite widespread criticism it was
greeted

with at its inception.
A similar bill had
scaled second reading in the House of Representatives, stirring controversy and public outcry.
The bill is coming at the time that there have
been reports of incessant attacks by herdsmen
across the country. The killings in Nimbo, Enugu state and Agatu in Benue state, are some of the
recent reported attacks.
