Uyo —IN line with the
vision of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s led administration policy of developing the
agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture, has solicited for
collaboration with research centres.
The state Commissioner
for Agriculture and Mineral Resources Mr.
Matthew Ekaette made the call at the
maiden seminar organised by Centre for Wetlands and Waste Management Studies,

Ekaette, said that the
state government was willing and ready to partner research centres that will
come up with innovations to improve the agric sector in the state.
Ekaette who was
represented by the Director in-charge of Fisheries, Mr. Uwe Bassey, explained
said that the need to diversify the state economy became necessary following
the dwindling oil revenue.
According to him, the
current administration was passionate about its policy on enhancing food
sufficiency for the state through agriculture and other non-oil exports
especially as the decline in oil price has forced a commensurate drop in
federal allocations to states.
